Dr Jeannette van Dyk

Organisational & Industrial Psychologist

About Me

I am a qualified Organisational and Industrial Psychologist, registered with both the HPCSA and BHF. After spending ten years in the corporate world, I discovered my passion for promoting individuals' emotional well-being and made a significant career change to become a psychologist. For the past twelve years, I have had the privilege of helping individuals and couples navigate personal and professional challenges, thoroughly enjoying the rewarding nature of this work.

In addition, I have completed Levels 1 and 2 advanced training in the Gottman Relationship Method for couples counselling. I am also a certified and registered Level 2 practitioner of Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT®), an approach that offers major relief and transformation in a short amount of time. I am proud to be a member of the British Brain Working Research Society.

I work with adolescents, adults, and couples, offering support in the following areas:

Marriage Counselling & Couples Therapy

Anger Management

Self-Esteem Building

Career Challenges

Throughout my training and internship, I gained extensive experience working with adolescents, young adults, and adults to manage stress, anxiety, exam pressure, work performance issues, career challenges, and relationship difficulties. My PhD research focused on employee well-being in workplace bullying environments, where I developed a resilience model to help individuals and organizations enhance psychological resilience. I had the opportunity to present my findings at the Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Conference in Spain in 2018.

My Approach

Research shows that individuals with higher levels of psychological resilience are better equipped to cope with life’s challenges, even under difficult circumstances. I provide practical tools, skills, and techniques to help clients build resilience and improve their ability to manage stress, relationship difficulties, and workplace challenges.

From our first session, my focus is on your desired outcomes. Together, we will establish clear goals and work towards them. In couples counselling, I offer practical tools to help you create your best relationship, enhance intimacy, and manage conflict constructively.

Therapeutic Methods

My holistic and personalized approach is tailored to the unique needs of each client, and I draw on a variety of therapeutic methods, including:

Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR)

Person-Centred Approach

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

Positive Psychology

Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 2)

Narrative Career Counselling

Psychometric Assessments

A Personal Note

On a personal level, I’ve been married for 21 years and deeply value family life and nature. My personal journey has allowed me to relate to my clients with genuine empathy and understanding. I incorporate Christian faith into my sessions when it is mutually important to my clients, believing that every individual deserves to feel valued, heard, and understood.

What to Expect

I aim to create a safe, supportive environment where we can work towards wellness, solutions, and progress. Sessions are available in Afrikaans or English, both in-person and online. I have experience working with clients from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds, and my approach is always holistic and client-centred.

I look forward to partnering with you on your journey to a more fulfilling, meaningful, and purpose-driven life.
