Counselling Psychologist

About me
I am a Counselling Psychologist, registered with both the HPCSA and BHF, and have been counselling for over 10 years. It has been the greatest privilege and blessing to fulfil my calling to be a Psychologist and work with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in private practice. I aim to create a felt sense of safety for every client who walks through my door so that they feel seen, heard and accepted for who they are, so that they can find the support that they need to move forward in their lives.

Therapeutic methods

I have been trained in various Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioural, Family Systems, Solutions-Focused and Client Centred therapy models and work in an integrative way depending on the client, their difficulties and their therapeutic goals. I am also trained in Play Therapy (using Attachment Theory) and Couples Therapy approaches such as the Imago, Gottman and BWRT Couples Therapy Models. I am a proud member of BWRT® South Africa and a registered BWRT® Practitioner.

My Approach

I am very passionate about human development across the lifespan, the brain, and healthy family systems. Healthy attachment from birth with emotionally safe and present caregivers sets us up for a healthy relationship with ourselves and others throughout our lives. When we have a felt sense of safety and unconditional worth and value from birth, we know that we are deserving of healthy relationships and good things in our life and believe in our ability to learn and grow. This helps us to better regulate our own nervous systems and allows us to be resilient in the face of life’s inevitable challenges. I like to think of every setback in life as an opportunity to reflect, find out what we can learn from the experience, and grow so that we do not become stuck in the same painful cycles over and over again.

Using my training and experience as a psychotherapist, you can expect a holistic and tailored approach with practical guidance and tools that will help you to reach your goals and live your best life. I am grounded, present, compassionate and aim to deeply listen to and understand my clients and what they most need. I am experienced working with people from all walks of life with diverse cultural, religious, and personal value systems. I am available on-line and in person and can easily be contacted between sessions for support as needed.

I look forward to meeting you and partnering with you and your family to achieve deeper connection, meaning, purpose, joy and peace in your life.
